Dr Claire Packer

Claire Packer is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Public Health Medicine and has been Director of the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre since 1998.

Andrew Stevens is Professor of Public Health and has been Director of the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre since 1998. Andrew inputs to strategic development and the research programme.

Dr Derek Ward

Dr Derek Ward – Co-Director & Medical Advisor

Derek Ward is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Public Health and has been Deputy Director of the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre since joining in January 2010. Derek leads the NIHR HSC Drugs Team and acts as a Medical Adviser with a focus on pharmaceutical technologies.

Ali Cook has been at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre since 2001 and is head of the MedTech team.

Sue Simpson is an Associate Director in the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre responsible for the work of the research and reviews team. She has published a number of papers in the field of early awareness and alert systems and contributed to workshops on the subject.

Sue is also the network co-ordinator for EuroScan – the International Information Network on New and Emerging Health Technologies a collaborative network of member agencies for the exchange of information on important emerging new drugs, devices, procedures, programmes, and settings in health care.

Dr Kristina Routh

Kristina Routh is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Public Health Medicine and has been the Medical Advisor for MedTech (medical devices, procedures and diagnostic tests) at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre since joining in January 2011.

Lina Martino is a Research Fellow within the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (NIHR HSC). Her current research activity is in the field of health services, epidemiology and public health, supporting the work of the NIHR HSC. Lina’s PhD was in the area of Health Psychology, and she continues to maintain an active interest in the subject and other psychology sub-disciplines.

Janette joined the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre in January 2008 and is currently working as part of a team which concentrates on identifying emerging medical technologies including devices and diagnostics.

Matt Fung is a senior analyst with a particular interest. He currently leads engagement with pharmaceutical companies to identify significant developments likely to have an impact on the NHS in the next few years.

Luan Linden-Phillips is a senior analyst in the Research and Reviews team at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (NIHR HSC). Luan’s responsibilities include pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and she has a particular interest in diagnostics.

Kathryn Miles is a senior analyst with a particular interest in pharmaceuticals at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre. She currently jointly leads engagement with pharmaceutical companies to identify significant developments likely to have an impact on the NHS in the next few years.

Joanna joined the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre in 2007 and is a senior analyst with a particular interest in medical devices. She currently leads engagement with the medical device industry to identify significant technologies likely to have an impact on the NHS in the next few years.

Sara works as a Senior Horizon Analyst in the medical technologies group at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre, specialising in diagnostic and screening tests for use in the NHS.

Rebecca is a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre.

Angaja Phalguni is part of the research team at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (NIHR HSC). She joined the NIHR HSC in November 2009 after working in the public health sector in India.

Beth Boddice is a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre.

Dr Senthinathan is a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) for the medtech team at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre.

Tracey Genus is a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) for the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre.

Zaheda Teladia is a part of the research and reviews team at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (NIHR HSC). She joined the NIHR HSC in September 2008 after graduating from the University of Birmingham in Biomedical Materials Science (BSc Hons).

Mr Philip Breen – Horizon Analyst

Philip Breen is a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) for the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre.

Angharad joined the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre in March 2012 as a Research Associate (Horizon Analyst) and is a member of the pharmaceutical team. She graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011 with an honours degree in Medical Science (Pharmacology).

Louisa joined the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre in October 2011 and is a member of the NIHR HSC drugs team.
