Technology description:
Roflumilast (Daxas) is a long-acting selective phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitor which relieves the underlying symptoms of COPD through an anti-inflammatory effect. It acts by inhibition of synthesis of leukotriene B4 and reactive oxygen species in neutrophils, as well as inhibition of TNF- release by mononuclear cells. Roflumilast also inhibits T-cell proliferation, cytokine production, and cell infiltration of the lungs. Roflumilast is administered orally at 500?g once daily.
